Barefoot hoof care is now a realistic choice for horse owners.  Whether rehabilitating a horse with hoof problems, maintaining your horse's feet in the paddock, or maximising your horse's performance, there are now more options available to help you achieve your goals.

Located in the Latrobe Valley in Gippsland, Victoria, Frances Hughes is a professionally trained trimmer and part of a nation wide network of hoof care providers who continue to study and develop their knowledge in this field.   Frances is also a trained consultant for the Easycaredownunder range of hoof boots.

In February 2011 Frances was a presenter at the Functional Hoof Australian Conference describing her experiences of training and competing barefoot in 3 day eventing.  Her horse Argentum (Argie) is currently at 1*  level and models for many of the photos on this website.

A member of the Australian Hoof Care Association Frances has trained with leaders in the equine hoof care field such as:

  • Professor Bob Bowker: VMD PhD Professor of Anatomy and Director of the Equine Foot Laboratory at Michigan State Univ. College of Veterinary Medicine
  • Andrew Bowe: B.App. Sc - Master Farrier and Equine Podiotherapist
  • Mike Ware: Equine Podiotherapist and Manager of Equethy & Easycare Down Under
